Who will be the leaning player in the energy saving market valued at 800 billion yuan?

　　On July 26, the national energy saving conference was held. Entrusted by the State Council, Jiang Weixin, Vice Chief of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), signed the liability papers of energy saving targets respectively with 30 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and the heads of 14 enterprises under the governance of the central government.

　　It is well known that it is easy to increase the production by 1% but tough to reduce the energy consumption by 1%. In fact, there is a great potential in energy saving and consumption reduction in China. The unit energy consumption for one dollar of GDP in China amounts to 11.5 times as much as that in Japan, 7.7 times as that in France and Germany, 5.5 times as that in UK, and more than 4 times as that in the USA. “20% is the definite target for energy saving during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period . The target is neither groundless nor a game of digits.” Zhou Dadi, director of China Energy Research Institute under NDRC, was cited as saying.

　　On the East Asia Investment Forum which was held recently, Xu Dingming, vice Chief of the Office of the National Energy Leading Group, China, was quoted as saying, “ In China, the proportion of the renewable energy in the energy structure will be boosted to 10% by 2010 and around 16% by 2020, which will bring a great business opportunity and need an investment of around 800 billion yuan by 2020 to meet the demand”.
